Well.. this is more in line with what I intended with the preceding post. I wasn’t too happy with the result of that one. I think this is at least a bit better.

Just a few more photo-manipulations and then this will probably be out of my system so that I can go back to good old sketching/drawing.

Cartoon experiment..

This was a little test I did to see if I could transform a cartoon into something a bit more real. Mostly using photos and the liquify-function in PS. All the hair curls that stick out are handpainted though.

I have somewhat mixed feelings about the method and result. But, I wanted to at least try to do one of these. The inspiration came from this guys work..

So.. I’m pretty sure I will let this go now. Took this render a bit further than the previous ones. Mostly because I wanted a more polished caricature but also to see what it would take in time and effort.

I’m not sure if I have the patience to just do stuff as finished as this one.. I guess time will tell. Sometimes quicker stuff, more sketchy, can have loads of character and beauty.

Sat down with the caricature for a bit. Trying to render it a bit more careful now. Takes longer than I anticipated. Haven’t even started refining the hair yet. Getting closer though.

Caricature update

Minor update but with significant (I hope) changes. Mostly worked on the eye and mouth area. Still not there but it’s coming along. Will soon move on and polish all areas and try to finish this one off.

Started another caricature. Although I don’t exaggerate my caricatures that much yet I still think they can be called caricatures. Started with a fast, pretty sloppy sketch, corrected some stuff and am currently in the middle of coloring it. Oh, and I will also try and tighten up the likeness a bit more.

Well.. my first caricature got finished the other day, and I also started a new one. The new one is in the early stages and pretty full of errors as of now but It might be fun to see the different stages of completion.
